Using Senior Insurance

What is Medicare?

Medicare is health insurance for people age 65 or older, under age 65 with certain disabilities, and any age with permanent kidney failure known as "End-Stage Renal Disease". You must have entered the United States lawfully and have lived here for 5 years to be eligible for Medicare. Original Medicare is managed by the Federal government who provides Parts A & B. You have additional options for your coverage managed by private insurance providers including prescription drug plans, medicare advantage plans, and Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance) policies.

Parts of Medicare

Medicare has four parts:

Part A - Hospital Insurance

There is generally no monthly premium if you and/or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working in the U.S.

Part B - Medical Insurance

For most people there is a standard monthly premium for Part B
